The X-treme Trail Climber Elite Electric Mountain Bike is a pleasant surprise at how good it is for the price. It is a mountain bike so it has some decent off road capability, but is most at home as a city bike or commuter. The Trail climber is simple, easy to maintain and rugged.  It has been being built and improved by X-treme since 2009 and has been getting better and better every year.

The Trail Climber is among the best entry level electric bicycles available, and for the price you won’t find a bike with the set of features the Trail climber and Trail Maker have. For instance the removable 24v 8ah lithium Ion battery is light weight and long lasting, and this is a rare option on e-bikes under $1000.

This e-bike comes standard with a rear rack, disc brakes and aluminum alloy frame that makes it perform very well on the road.  The trail climber doesn’t have the acceleration and hill climbing ability of the 36 volt X-treme E-Bikes, but on flat roads it gets to its top speed of 20 miles per hour easily with comfortable level of acceleration. On steeper hills you do need to pedal some, but the electric motor is doing most of the work so you’re not out of breath once you get to the top of the hill.

The X-treme Trail Climber Elite uses a pedal assist system, twist throttle and can be pedaled like a normal bike, and the rider can switch between these modes automatically.  If you want to get some exercise you can start pedaling and the pedal assist system or PAS will kick in and use the electric motor to amplify your pedaling power. Then if you want more power, just twist the hand grip throttle like a motorcycle and the bike will move along on its own power with no need for pedaling. Then if you run out of charge the bike rides just like a normal bicycle.

This electric bicycle comes standard with a handle bar mounted front headlight and a Shimano Tourney 7 speed gear system. The front wheel is mounted on an adjustable front hydraulic fork and uses 26 inch by 1.95 inch Kenda mountain bike tires, on strong power circle dual wall rims. The front and rear mechanical disc brakes stop the trail climber much more effectively than standard V-brakes.

The e-bike battery is a 24 volt 8ah LiFePO4 battery, with a charge indicator on top,  coupled to a 300 watt brushless rear hub motor. The rear rack has saddle bag supports and tie downs as well as a useful luggage clip. It also come with a shock absorbing seat post that along with the front suspension give this e-bike a smooth ride.

All the components are quality parts that make this bike a really good deal for the price. When you buy the bike we deliver free via UPS and assembly includes putting on the front wheel, handle bars and pedals which takes about 30 minutes, and all the tools and instructions are included.

If you have any questions, please call us during normal business hours at 305-209-4411. FarBike is well known for our great customer support and friendly support staff. • X-Treme Trail Climber Electric Mountain Bike

The trail Climber is an excellent entry-level electric bike. Its strengths and limitations are exactly as described by Eric in his video and written statement. Actually it is not a true "mountain bike" because it is underpowered for such a use. However, it has sufficient strength on level ground and slightly elevated terrain. Also, it is quite comfortable when ridden in the upright position. Its step-through frame design allows easy access. And the battery duration is surprisingly good.

First, I should say I'm an avid biker and have been mountain biking for 30 years and riding in general for over 60 years...which should give you idea of my age. But that's why I wanted to try an electric bike...I just couldn't make it up many of hills or mountain trails that I love, anymore.

So I did tons of research, for over a month. Talked to lots of people and read every review possible on dozens of bikes. And talked to my trusted local bike dealer. He said, not surprisingly that "Online bikes, especially cheap electric ones, aren't worth the risk." He urged me to Invest in a good one" (like $4000 or more.) But I couldn't afford that kind of money for a second bike.
Anyway, after talking to the Farbike.com guy and asking a dozen questions, I chose the step through model, I believe that's the hill climber, and was so pleased that it arrived within 2 days of shipping. I had some trouble putting it together and bribed my local tech guy to help me on his day off (well worth the $80 bribe!) He not only fixed my half-assed assembly mistakes, but taught me how to ride it...which was easy-peasy, btw. It was love at first ride. It's comfy, easy to use and SO helpful when going up hills or when I just want to go faster (wood Hoo!) My first ride was about 2 hours, 20 miles, and I smiled the whole way. I absolutely LOVE this bike! I'm glad I paid extra for the lithium battery, as opposed to the cheaper, larger, SLA one. I highly recommend that.

The only downside is having to take the seat off to take the battery off, if you're going to take it elsewhere to charge. It's also pretty heavy, even w/o the seat and battery to life onto a bike carrier, but I'll just lower mine or get another one. All electric bikes are heavy, so... Also I wish the seat were adjustable (lower) and the handlebars (higher.) I'm 5'4" and it's just slightly not perfect.

Those things said, I still gave it 5 starts for the great bang for the buck. It's a fabulous bike for a terrific price. I only wish I'd done it sooner. I'll be able to stretch my bike-riding years another 10 or more now. BTW, I can ride this on the street, bike trails and on mountains. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, so riding here is a challenge...or it use to be. I HIGHLY recommend this bike, and for girls, or even guys, the step-through model is SO easy to get off and on.

    I love my bike . I have 2 of these .
I ride about 17 miles round trip to work . Sometimes I make both ways without charging . But instead of taking the chance of having to pedal partway home ...I recharge at work.
Also be sure you seal the holes where the cables go into the controller housing because if you ride in the rain , like I do in Florida , that housing will fiifill up with water shorting out the motor controller.
A few minor changes on the things I mentioned would bring my rating up to 5 stars.

The front brake assembly was broken, received a new one by mail.
Replaced the seat, the original seat is hard and not bum friendly, the toy headlight fell off on the first day. The seat and light issues, I knew from other reviews. The bike is now fully functional. It rides like a charm... Speedy, quiet, amazingly powerful. Xtreme should offer a choice of seats and drop the toy headlight. The back rack should be optional.
